Switching to Electric Cars

Imagine you are walking down the street. There is a huge traffic jam. You start to smell gas. Then you start coughing. You look around and you see that there is a big cloud of exhaust gasses from an internal combustion engine (ICE) car. People see this all the time yet they still use ICE cars themselves. ICE cars are polluters and are bad for the environment because they produce harmful byproducts and greenhouse gasses that could kill much needed plants/trees. Americans should make it a priority to buy electric cars because it reduces the amount of gas fumes going into the environment, it can help the plants grow, and it could effectively reduce the amount of carbon in the atmosphere. Electric automobiles reduce the amount of gas fumes in the environment because they don't use exhaust and can run completely on electricity. According to the website NEEF or the National Environmental Education Foundation “Ev's don't burn fossil fuels. They rely on electricity which could be produced in many ways.” All ICE cars when burning fossil fuels produce a lot of gas fumes. These gas fumes can pollute the planet. E.v's are better for the environment and reduce the amount of gas fumes in the air that we breathe. Ev’s effectively reduce the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere because the power that the car is getting from its engine is electric and will not produce any carbon dioxide emissions. According to the U.S. Department Of Energy . Ev’s produce no carbon emissions while ICE cars produce 12,594 pounds of carbon emissions. The amount of carbon dioxide that the ICE cars emit is nowhere close to the amount of carbon that the electric cars produce. ICE cars are polluters and are bad for the environment because they produce gas fumes that could kill much needed plants/trees and animals that breathe the gas too much. According to the website Prana Air “The impact is usually indirect, but it gradually kills animals by altering biological systems. Pollutants in the air impair endocrine function, harm organs, and reduce reproductive success.” When the animals breathe they will start to develop a disease that could harm them severely. Also according to the website Prana Air “Heavy metals and other air pollutants that are deposited on the soil initially influence the functioning of roots. They interfere with the plant’s ability to acquire soil resources. Reduced resource acquisition will have an impact on plant development.” The polluted air eventually sets down into the soil which messes up all the roots of plants which eventually could kill them. Now, Imagine you are walking down the same exact street with the traffic jam. Instead of that bad smell , you smell fresh air around you . This could happen if everybody makes the right choice and buys an Electric Car.
